Great food and great prices. Went in for a breakfast and had so much food, ended up skipping lunch. Great local town atmosphere. Good service.

I stopped in for lunch and as soon as I walked in, I was right in front of the salad bar cooler. After I walked around it, I was treated to a friendly and unique atmosphere. They have a number of cool classic items decorating the walls with only a handful of more modern touches (a couple flat panel TVs with advertising.) The wait staff was very friendly and I ended up ordering the lunch special bacon cheese burger and jambalaya soup. The menu has a large number of specials and includes more of what would be considered home cooked. The soup was very spicy and had a good amount of flavor, so it was pretty enjoyable. The burger was ok, though they asked for a temp, you really aren't going to cook a food service round stamped type patty to anything other than well done. My guess is that it started life as a frozen patty, so I was a little underwhelmed, as the other dishes of food had more of a "cooked in a kitchen" look. Overall, the wait staff is the reason I rated the restaurant as a three star. The food was ok, though it was a little bit pricey. (Though, they will send you out with a giant to go cup of your drink. Seriously, this thing is at least a liter.) I would come back again, but I'm not sure I would have it on the top of my list in the downtown area of Plant City.

Snellgrove's has existed in downtown Plant City for as long as just about anyone can remember! Eating here is bound to bring up feelings of nostalgia in anyone from the area. That being said, their food is not the best in the world but it's definitely acceptable. They have quite a menu with their various daily specials offerings, the beef tips and rice are good!

Ok, came here because the Strawberry hut was closed and it was something close by, but we were really glad we stopped by. The place is small, but very neat; the atmosphere is nice, welcoming, real southern vibe, staff was rather friendly and helpful. You can see a lot of regulars come in as the servers new them by name. One of today's specials, and they have them for every day of the week, was sirloin tips with steamed white rice, which I got and loved it! Buuut... The meat portion was too small for the price, I hate to say it. If I'm paying 8.99$ a meal, I'd like to see some meat on my plate! Granted, it did come with soup or salad and 2 veggies, so if you take all that into account, it is a lot of food for the money. My husband got fried chicken with gravy entree, which was to die for, and he had a good size portion. I'm just saying.. The chicken and veggie soup was really good, by the way, just my type, clear broth, with lots of flavorful veggies and chicken. We got the beef hot dog for my daughter, which was huuuuge and very tasty, juicy and beefy, on a delicious butted smothered and toasted bun. And now we move on to the desert. We got a slice of homemade strawberry layer cake to share.. What can I say, they know how to make a grown woman cry.. I'm sad just thinking about it now, as it's gone.. All gone.. My husband and I devoured it, it was so good!!! Want to come back just for that!!! It was delicious!!! For anyone who loves cake its a must!!! Icing was just supreme!! You could see and taste strawberries in every bite, not heavy, or too sweet, just right. My daughter tried some too,and said it was really good, and she is picky!! They also had a hummingbird cake, which we got a slice to go, looks, smells and tastes delish!!! (I had to sneak a tiny piece to try.. ) So, to sum up, do stop by and try it for yourself, hopefully won't be disappointed, I know we are coming back

I am giving Snellgroves 1 star based solely on a phone conversation I had last night while trying to place a takeout order. The man who answered my call was very rude and belligerent. Yes, I understand you were busy but don't be rude. I enjoy your food a lot but if you keep acting like that to customers... you won't have any. My comment is echoed by other people that I told about my experience. My friend told me that they had the same treatment inside by what they believe must be the owner.

I really don't eat here unless I have to. Overpriced, mediocre, uninspired food; in a cheap setting.

Food was mediocre. Roast beef was fatty and looked like lunch meat, hamburgers were nothing more than food service patties, but chicken livers were good.

Prices are reasonable and waitresses are friendly. If you are looking for a place for a quick bite to eat, this is NOT it. Waited almost a half hour to be served my food. The country ham was dry and hard to cut, but the mashed potatoes and corn bread was very good. It was also very loud. Was not overly impressed.

Good home cooked food. Nothing fancy, but good selection for breakfast and lunch. Want something other than the chain restaurants it's a good place to eat.

I love eating breakfast here. The sausage gravy is so good but get the new kind it's better. The service is great and friendly.

Snellgrove's serves classic American Southern food, the sort of place Cracker Barrel would like you to think exists only in memory. It's got a salad bar, and nearly half of it is prepared mayonnaise-based salads like macaroni salad and cole slaw. Don't be shy! Some of them are salads you might never have heard of before, like sweet-pea salad and kidney-bean salad, and they're delicious. Vegetarians, keep in mind that the greens are cooked traditionally, with lots of meaty chunks. The fried okra was delicious and the macaroni and cheese was no slouch either. If you use a wheelchair, be aware that you will never fit through the narrow doorway and twisty route to the men's room. Service was friendly and laid-back; when we wanted something, we'd have a smiling server at your table in a few seconds, and when we didn't want anything, the servers were cleaning up tables and enjoying each other's conversation about local affairs. In short, a nice place with very reasonable prices, and only a short drive from the interstate -- much better than a drive-through, if you've got the time.

Had a bad experience- our waitress was wearing her long hair down and when she was serving our drinks the ends of her hair were falling in our ice teas and food plates. The mash potatoes were fake tasting and my corn bread was cold and dry. There were flies all around the salad bar. We spent $20 for two people during lunch. Poor quality food and poor service.Never will go back.

This is my wife's and my favorite breakfast place in town. We typically eat there at least once a week (usually breakfast, but lunch and dinner is good too.). We have never had a bad meal here. The staff is almost always warm and friendly, despite usually being swamped with customers. And it's the best coffee in town. Can't beat the deal you get.

I would go back again for the Chicken Fried Chicken alone! Snellgrove's has a daily menu. Many of the menu items are available every day, such as my beloved CFC, but others rotate in, such as Monday's Chicken and Dumplings. Their vegetables/sides also change daily. I went Tuesday, so my two choices with the CFC were fresh rutabagas and fresh greens (other choices were breaded okra, baby limas and black eyed peas). You also get a trip to the salad bar, which is an interesting trip because there are more prepared salads, like coleslaw, potato salad and some others I did not even recognize, on this tiny bar than actual toppings for your lettuce. Finally, you get a hunk of cornbread. My dinner was $7.99. Everything was fresh and delicious. I added black pepper to my white gravy, and the spicy vinegar from the jar of sport peppers at my table to my greens, and that was all the seasonings I needed. Very casual interior, with a large number of tables and booths. Waitresses were friendly and quick with recommendations and water refills. Parking available on the street.

What are people saying? I bet its the people that work here. Worst meal ever.

Snellgrove's is a small town dinner that has very friendly staff and is family owned and managed. The meals are the perfect amount for the price.I was a little concerned that I wouldn't be full and that I was paying too much for just a chicken wrap but I was very wrong. The chicken wrap was one of the best I ever had and was definitely filling. There is a pick-up window around the back that I like for quick lunch breaks.

This was the only place open on a Sunday as we drove through Plant city. The staff was amazing and the food was excellent! Love the small town feel. I would def go there again!

Went back while visiting family. Perfect. Just perfect. You spend less than $10 a person for what equals about two meals in one plate. Free salad bar. Bucket-sized sweet tea. You can't beat this place. Unstoppable.

A friend of mine found this gem. She mentioned stopping here for lunch and I'm glad she did. Like all of the other reviews I read, the food is great for the price. It is your typical home cooked meal but enjoyable non-the-less. We went on a Sunday so the crowd there was a little older but that shouldn't deter you from a good lunch. I left full. The staff was friendly and made sure we left happy. I'm making sure to make this my go -to Sunday lunch/brunch.

Ate there this week and the food was really good. We even told the waitress how good it was. Really fresh and filling.

Always a crowd pleaser. Good variety, reliable food. Many southern comfort foods and pricing is reasonable. Easy to stay under $8. With all meals is complementary salad bar that has outstanding creamed pea salad to German style cucumber salad. Have visitors in town, eat here for local flavor. They even serve a good palomino steak if u wanna break $10.
